The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) is dedicated to enhancing the independence of older New Yorkers for as long as feasible. Its mission focuses on advocacy, along with the development and implementation of consumer-oriented policies, programs, and services that are not only cost-effective but also person-centered. This initiative aims to empower older adults and their families through strategic partnerships with a comprehensive network of public and private organizations.

NYSOFA collaborates with a robust network of 59 local area agencies on aging (AAAs) that cater to each county, including the City of New York, the St. Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation, and the Seneca Nation of Indians. These agencies play a pivotal role in managing a diverse array of federally and state-funded services designed to support older adults and their families, while also promoting healthy aging and fostering community involvement.
